Quantum non-demolition measurements using Bose-Einstein condensates
We study possible scenarios for quantum non-demolition measurements using Bose-Einstein condensates. We show that the interactions between condensate atoms makes it possible to measure the atom number with minimal back action on the system. This is an example of atomic nonlinear optics that has significant implications in the quantum state preparation of the Bose condensates. Typeset using REVT...

متن کاملQuantum Computation with Bose-Einstein Condensates
It is proposed that quantum computation can be implemented on the basis of macroscopic quantum coherence of a many-particle system, especially the Bose-Einstein condensates, instead of a pure state. Moreover, since a macroscopic condensate “wavefunction” is described by a nonlinear Schrödinger equation, and the nonlinearity is tunable, one may be able to build a quantum computer composed of bot...
متن کاملMacroscopic Quantum Coherence in Bose–Einstein Condensates
The density of a Bose Einstein condensate (BEC) can undergo a symmetry breaking, either in real space or in momentum space. This occurs in a double well potential, obtained in real space for a BEC of lithium atoms by adding a standing wave light field to the trap potential, or in momentum space for rubidium atoms by Raman coupling two BECs in different magnetic states with two tilted light fiel...
